A macOS menu-bar pea with opinions

Your Mac has
a temperature.
And a suspect.

Sweatpea lives in your menu bar, sweats when your Mac works hard, and names the app that's doing it. Then it asks you both to take a break.

The live bit

This is your menu bar now.

Drag the load. The pea does the rest: face, line, culprit, note. It's the same app you'll be ignoring in meetings.

01 Shares are of the whole Mac, not one core. 02 Helpers are grouped under their app. 03 The pea is not the problem.

The blame

It doesn't just show a number. It names names.

Activity Monitor tells you a percentage. Sweatpea tells you it's Chrome, that every tab is its own little process, and that you could maybe close a few.

  • Helpers grouped under the app that owns them.
  • Terminal tools named by what they are: node, claude, yes.
  • macOS gets its own row, with its busiest parts explained.
  • Quit with a pretty-please confirmation. Ignore the noisy ones.
  • When the Mac is full rather than hot, it names the app holding the memory.

The faces

One pea. Twenty moods. Zero subtlety.

Chill, warm, sweating, meltdown. Napping, side-eye, confused, celebrating. The menu-bar face changes with your Mac, so you can read the room without opening Activity Monitor.

Celebrating

All rested. Come back whenever.

Twenty states in the app, including the ones that only show up when you're on a call, typing during a break, or the sampler stops answering.

The breaks

Breaks, but make them passive-aggressive.

After an hour of use — you pick the interval — the pea yawns and asks for two minutes. It naps while you're away, gives you side-eye if you type, and wakes up happy when you're back.

  • No prompts on calls, in full-screen apps or during quiet hours.
  • Also asks after 20 minutes of sustained sweating, even if the timer hasn't run out.
  • Snooze 15 minutes, or say not now. It keeps count.

A week of sweat, turned into something shareable.

Sweat Wrapped is your week in one card: hours sweating, meltdowns, the apps responsible, breaks taken. Share it, save it, or send it to the person who told you to close some tabs.

Month, year and all-time cards, the Hall of Flame and a roast card are part of Pro.

Checkout and receipts are handled by Dodo Payments. The app talks to Dodo only to activate and validate your key. No analytics, no account, no data about your Mac.

The privacy

Your Mac's business stays on your Mac.

Sweatpea has no analytics, no account and no ad SDK. CPU data, app names and history never leave the Mac. The only network calls are the licence check when you buy Pro and a once-a-day update check that sends nothing about you.

The questions

Questions, answered.

Still curious? The pea is easier to understand than most of your menu bar.

Will it slow my Mac down?

It samples once a second and does almost nothing between samples. The apps it blames are the expensive part.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 14 or later. It's a menu-bar app, so there's no Dock icon and no window to manage.

What's free?

The live pea, blame, breaks, reminders, live memory and storage, Sweat Wrapped and a week of history. Pro adds what changed in memory, storage and your folders, longer history, the sweat calendar, shareable cards, extra voices and CPU numbers.

Is it a subscription?

No. $15.99 once. The licence key arrives by email after checkout and keeps working offline for 30 days between checks.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Your licence covers a small number of Macs. You can deactivate one in the app to move the activation to another.

What if I need a refund?

Email support@sweatpea.app with your licence key and Dodo revokes it — the app falls back to the free plan on its next check, and the key stops working everywhere.

Something's wrong. Who do I write to?

support@sweatpea.app. A human reads it. There is no tracking pixel here to tell them you wrote.

Does it send my data anywhere?

No. Two requests leave this Mac. The licence check sends the key, a device instance id and your Mac's display name. The daily update check asks sweatpea.app for the appcast and sends nothing that identifies you. Neither ever sends CPU data, app names or usage history.

Why a pea?

Because a progress bar has never once made anyone feel seen. The pea has.

Ready when you are

Put a pea in your menu bar.

It will sweat so you don't have to. Mostly.
